Summer Solstice Ride

Stewart set up some fabulous 25 degree weather for the longest ride of the year so far. Thanks Stewart, a great day out.

A long day setting off from Newbridge and going up to St Fillans for breakfast.

From there we headed up past the Green Welly and through a spectacular Glencoe, then across the Ballachulish bridge and on to the Corran Ferry,

We stopped at Sunart for lunch before heading across the beautiful single track road to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse.

After more sustenance in the guise of coffee and cake, we headed back, intending to turn left and take the road to Glenfinnan to take in the viaduct. Well, most people managed that, but a few of us got seperated a while back on the single track road and my sat nav had decided it was slightly quicked taking the right hand turn, heading back to the ferry. In my defense, it was hot and I was tired, so 3 of us headed back across the Corran Ferry while the rest made their way North to Fort William. Surprisingly, as we pulled in for fuel at FW, we met some of the others who had got there just 30 seconds before us.

From FW, Dave McCutchen and I headed off down the road a bit sharpish to get home. Unfortunately we came across a deer that had just been knocked down by a car, it wasn't looking in a good state though the driver and some others had stopped and were heading back to it. Slightly further up the road at Stirling, a closed road as we tried to get onto the motorway meant we had to turn around and find another way there, which added another 10 miles to the journey.

Gareth had his new drone and 360 camera with him and we're looking forward to seeing the footage from that in the future.
