Mining for Lead at Wanlockhead

Well today proved to be spectacular with the weather into the 20s for our trip down to Thornhill. Fifteen of us set off from The Steading as usual, but we lost Simon in the traffic right from the off! We stopped to wait for him a bit down the road, but when he didn't turn up, we thought 14 out of 15 is good odds, so we carried on regardless. He did find us slightly further down the road when we stopped at wanlockhead to get a pic for Peter's Photo Rally. To be fair, we also rode past the source of the Clyde, but there was nowhere close by to stop 15 bikes safely...

A slight mix up meant that a couple of people bought some food there, so we all decided that we'd just stop there for food as we already had parking and the cafe was pretty empty. The cafe proved to be a good shout with the largest piece of Victoria Sponge I've seen being presented to me. I've had worse lunches. 😁
