Oban for Lunch

An all day run from Edinburgh to Oban

About 05:40 hours riding, 245 miles (Newbridge-Newbridge)

Stops for coffee/fuel & of course lunch

Dave Barnes & Ian Gilchrist will take the run

We'll set off from Newbridge McDonalds

Head up the A9 to Stirling

and along the A811 to Balloch (about 1:05 - 56m) 

where we will stop for coffee/pee/fuel

Suitibly refreshed we will head up the A814 to Arrochar 

and join the A83 to Inveraray (1:00 - 103m)

where we will have a quick break for an ice cream (toilets here too, but no fuel)

From here, we head south down the coast of Loch Fyne until we turn North through Lochgilphead 

and on to Oban (1:20 165m)

There is bike parking in Oban, but probably not enough for all of us at the same spot. 

Last year we ate outside at MacGillivrays Seafood Bar - Scallops & Chips 😁

I plan to do the same again, but there are many eating places around

After Lunch, we'll go get fuel and then head due east towards Tyndrum (0:45 209m)

and down the road to Callander (0:45 235m) Stop for coffee/ice creams etc.

Then to the David Stirling memorial to regroup (0:15 245m)

before joining the M9 back to Edinburgh (0:35 245m)

People will drop off the M9 as and when they reach their stops, so don't be tempted to follow... 

If needed, there is fuel at J10 and J9 after we join the M9 - you'll need to come off, but you'll know where you are at this point. 

There is also fuel at the exit after the Kelpies, but after then it's Newbridge.
