Edinburgh and District Advanced Motorcyclists ('EDAM') is a motorcycle group of volunteers that was set up to promote road safety in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas by assisting individuals who want to enhance their riding skills through Advanced Rider skills so that they can become safer and better riders. As with any type of further education, our aim is to help individuals gain experience and become safer and more proficient in riding their motorcycles.

The main techniques we employ are to take you out for a series of Observed rides on a one-to-one basis and after observing your current riding skills to make constructive suggestions on the areas in which you will need to improve in order to assist you attain the standard required for the Advanced Motorcycle Test.

Through our affiliation to the Institute of Advanced Motorists ('IAM'), we can assist individuals to prepare for the Advanced Motorcycle Test.

EDAM however, is not simply about preparing you for the Advanced Motorcycle Test, it offers a wide range of benefits including: Fun Runs, Group Organised Rides, Social Events and subscription to our monthly newsletter - 'TwistGrip'. As a member, you can access our Members area and keep yourself up-to-date on all events, news and access the TwistGrip archive.

Our objective throughout this site is to provide you with the relevant information that will allow you to make your mind up about joining our Club so you too can not only become a more skilled rider but can also enjoy the benefits offered by EDAM and by being a member of the IAM.
