Membership

We welcome new Members at any time of the year although we normally only operate the Advanced Motorcycle Guidance programme for safety reasons from April to November. We do usually have a waiting list so if you wish to get started as soon as possible, please complete the Application process sooner rather than later so as to avoid any potential disappointment.

EDAM operates 3 types of Membership as set out below.
If you wish to apply today click here.

  • Associate Membership
This membership is for individuals who wish to undergo the Advanced Motorcycle Guidance programme in order to prepare for the Advanced Test. To commence the Advanced Motorcycle Guidance programme, you will need to buy the IAM's Skill For Life package £109 (£89 if under 26) and pay EDAM £50 towards your Observers expenses (total £159). You must also have passed your full motorcycle test and you will need a motorcycle which is road legal, fully taxed and roadworthy, capable of reaching and happily travelling at 70 mph and insured for you to ride it.
  • Full Membership
This membership is for individuals who have passed the IAM's Advanced Motorcycle Test. The current Full Membership fee is £10 per annum. On passing your Advanced Test as an EDAM Associate Member, you will automatically become an EDAM Full Member and a Member of the IAM. As a Full Member, you are eligible to vote at our Annual General Meeting, serve on the committee and you can apply to become an Observer (involves additional training and examination). If you passed your Advanced Motorcycle Test outside of EDAM, you are still welcome to join EDAM as a Full Member and are eligible to the Full Membership benefits as set out above. Note: To be a Full Member, you will also need to be a current Member of the IAM.
  • Friend of EDAM
This membership is for individuals who simply wish to support the aims of EDAM or for individuals who don't currently have a motorcycle licence or access to a motorcycle in order to become an Associate Member. The membership fee is £10 per annum.
